WEDNESDAY 7th, DECEMBER…

04:16am… my first post is the night before the main 101 HOUR EVENT… as I write this, I’ll be heading to bed for what will be the last time in 5 DAYS, the next time I’ll sleep will be SUNDAY night… the things we do for LOVE & DREAMS, my next BLOG will be in a few hours when I will BEGIN my biggest fundraiser of my life…

10:46am… after a KNOCK at the door, I am now fully awake, after just 5 hours of sleep, I hope that’s enough to see me through 101 HOURS… haha, but on the UPSIDE, I came downstairs to find that our official music video I edited for MC FRONTALOT has now gone live on his YOUTUBE, this is a video of footage from the WHEATUS & MC FRONTALOT 2011 tour I was lucky enough to be on. I filmed FRONTALOT singing his official song to our film every night & so I used footage from the MANY MANY gigs + footage from our INTRO shoot to make this video… if you do give it a watch, please, please give it a LIKE, unless you HATE it, then please ANGRILY hit the LIKE button, haha…

11:21am… as I sit here thinking should I go back to bed for a couple of hours, or excitedly promote my new music video, I notice that our first DONATION came in, from the amazing RUSSELL SOUTHAM, so when we officially begin at 2pm, we won’t be stuck at £0 raised, phew… thank you Russell…

2:10pm… my fiancees parents are now here & MORALE for this fundraiser is strong… tiredness has kicked in, not good, but it could also be psychological… the panic of not going to sleep for 100+ hours…

6:42pm… my loyal assistant Steve aka @kentindieFILM has just arrived to help out for a bit, for some reason, he has gone all shy & doesn’t want to be in view of the office webcam… it doesn’t take him long to relax & begin chatting about girls he wants to get with, all is back to normal in the world again…

8:55pm… Steve just left & donations began pouring in, strange coincidence? haha,

11:44pm… I think this fundraiser is going to be a tough one, the fact I’ve not had a full nights sleep in about a week is making this fundraiser a challenge, even just 10 hours in, I’m feeling sleepy, not a good start to a 101 HOUR no sleep fundraiser, haha, but I won’t give up, this film means way too much, for me to give up…

THURSDAY 8th DECEMBER…

1:09am… We just got in a donation from one of our longest & most supportive producers, @SirLarryFleming what made it so amazing was how he made it for £101, so £1 for every hour I’m doing…

4:01am… well, we have now just dipped into what I class as the TWITTER ABYSS, between 4am-8am is a time on twitter when there is very little interaction, its always very rare to do any donations at this time, but as we sink into the 4 hour twitter abyss, we sit happily with £639 raised… a great start to the fundraiser in the first 14 HOURS…

I woke up today to find out that my sister Suzy had FINALLY delivered a baby boy 8lb 13oz, I’m no baby expert, but they tell me that’s quite big, haha, so no KFC in it’s first week on the planet, It was a huge relief to know that they was both fine, it’s the first time my family has experienced anything like this, so it was quite a traumatic event, it’s a nice feeling to know that I am now an uncle, and as a responsible uncle, I will not be feeding the kid a KFC bucket in it’s first week… I have this job in the bag, why was I worrying… haha…

After taking the call from my mum at about 9am & trying to understand why she felt the need to tell me about the more graphical side of child birth, me & Kt headed into KENT to look round potential villages to live & hopefully set up an official INDYWOOD FILMS office, it’s got to that stage where we need a place to do auditions, re-hearsals, meetings & basically just have a better HQ for the projects we are running… So we did an ALL DAY drive round Kent… there was an office space we fell in love with straight away, but it’s the hidden costs that worry me, I have to make sure that money spent on the INDYWOOD PROJECT is 100% in the films best interest, so if an office space is going to cost too much, then I will keep looking… but we did fall in love with it, it’s based on a working farm, and it just so happens I need a working farm for my film ‘INVASION OF THE NOT QUITE DEAD’, so we will see…

I just want to thank my good friend Steve for using his day off to show us around what pretty much seemed like the whole of KENT, its opened my eyes up to the sort of location the office needs to be in. So as they say in the films… WATCH THIS SPACE…

Still suffering from the Christmas flu & not getting any sleep the night before, It seemed like a good idea to head into London, to see a FREE viewing of  ’Quatermass and the Pit’ a classic Hammer film over at the MUSEUM OF LONDON, I really was not well, but my new years resolution (the one & only I made) was to get out of the house more & not be a complete work-a-holic.

I am glad I went, but falling asleep several times during the movie & having a throbbing all over body ache did not help with the experience… We did have a quick look around the museum afterwards, so that made it more worth while…

I learned a very valuable lesson, never travel on the tube on a SUNDAY unless you have to, what would of normally been a 15 minute, 1 tube travel experience turned into pure HELL, with 90% of the tubes down, we had to get about 5 different tubes taking well over an hour & a half, lesson learned, haha…

As soon as me & Kt got back home we ordered a PIZZA HUT, but being close to being confirmed dead, I have actually no memory of enjoying it, I was asleep within minutes of finishing my pizza…

I think this blog should be categorised under GRUMPY & ILL, haha

First of all, lets just get it out of the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR’S & YESSSS, I am bald… bald as the day I was born, except 3 times as ugly… or 4 times depending on who you ask…

I didn’t start the day bald, in fact, until around 7pm  I had a very healthy amount of hair on my head & on my face, but the love of my life that is Kt, decided it was time for me to have a trim, so she excitedly got the clippers out & made the rookie mistake of forgetting to put on the safety guard, well, the rest is HISTORY & now I start the new year with a new look… & it’s damned cold up top…

anyway… to anyone thats new, my name is AD LANE & I am the founder of the INDYWOOD MOVIE PROJECT, which to cut  a long story short is me using the internet to FAN FUND my EPIC horror film trilogy called ‘INVASION OF THE NOT QUITE DEAD’.

and to cut the story even shorter…

I began work on my debut feature film towards the end of 2006 during my final year of university at the INTERNATIONAL FILM SCHOOL OF WALES and then for the next 2 and a half years I began a STUBBORN attempt at raising my films budget independently using just the internet, I didn’t want to use a lottery based funding body or a group of investors who would attempt to influence the vision of my movie & I tried everything, but unfortunately as luck would have it, I failed every time… but the one thing to remember was, I never gave up, LUCKILY, and in MAY 2009 I came up with a unique idea of selling pre-order producer packages, it seemed like a no brainer due to building up such a huge fan base during the project’s first couple of years…

So now, JAN 1st 2011, some 4 years later… here I am, still working FULL TIME & never once giving up on my life’s dream, and thanks to the incredible amount of fan support on TWITTER, I am now just months away from shooting the INTRO to ‘INVASION’ which will be filmed on location in Bulgaria… this is the EPIC 1978 intro that is very ambitious, involving explosions & yes REAL EXPLOSIONS, there won’t be any CGI gore or fire in ‘INVASION’ that is my number one pet hate with horror & action movies of today, nothing looks real any more, but before I begin a rant, I will stop & save it for another BLOG… but rest assured ‘INVASION’ is going OLD SCHOOL, back to a time when movies looked REAL… that’s one reason that horror films of the 70′s & 80′s remain FAN FAVOURITES more so than what is being produced in the last few years…

So this first blog is just to say HAPPY NEW YEAR & a HUGE THANK YOU to the 823 producers (from 20 different countries) that have so far donated to our project… so far I’ve managed to raise over £34,000 from just FAN support alone, making this film a truly FAN FUNDED horror movie…

UK Filmmaker AD Lane announces a non stop 80 hour film fundraising tweetathon for THURSDAY, DEC 2nd at MIDDAY ending MONDAY, DEC 6th at 8pm.

On Thursday 2nd December film entrepreneur AD Lane will begin an 80 hour non stop film fund raising twitter marathon with the goal of raising £10,000 and awareness for his debut horror film ‘Invasion Of The Not Quite Dead’ which has attached Zach Galligan.

During the summer of 2007 film graduate Antony Lane came out of the International Film School of Wales with a 2nd class hons degree and a passion to make a unique horror film, this horror film was called ‘Invasion Of The NOT QUITE Dead’. Unfortunately Antony found out the hard way that unique films very rarely get funded in the UK especially if you’re a first time filmmaker.

Over the course of the next 2 years Antony worked full time on the project, but even with the help of such industry heavy weights as Oscar Nominated Ken Russell, Hollywood actor Kevin Pollak, Hollywood special FX make up artist Tom Savini, it just wasn’t enough to bring the film any funding, instead what began was a battle of passion and determination for Antony to make it on his own to raise his movies budget independently.

Since there was a huge fan base growing to see Antony’s film made he decided to put the fate of his movie in to the hands of the fans, he figured if they wanted to see ‘Invasion’ badly enough then it might make more sense to FAN FUND his independent movie project. His idea was to bring the best people from the industry to work on the film and give the fans a chance to participate and follow the journey in real time, so in MAY 2009 Antony launched THE INDYWOOD MOVIE PROJECT to great success.

The idea to sell pre-order producer packages is the latest strategy many filmmakers are using to fund their films now, but back in early 2009 it was never heard of, Antony took a real risk at being the first to try it out.

For over a year an a half Antony would be on twitter between 10-15 hours a day 7 days a week film fund raising and raising fan awareness for his debut film, showing great determination and strength to make his movie become a reality.

Since launching his INDYWOOD project Antony has sold over 720 pre-order producer packages to 20 different countries, raising over £26,000, showing that fans alone can bring a movie to life even the undead kind.

Producer packages give the fan a chance to get closer to the movie they are supporting, which could include being a zombie for the day, seeing their name in the credits, receiving signed merchandise, having the chance to attend the wrap party and premier, or even seeing their name during the intro credits as an Executive Producer. Every producer will also have access in December to a special password protected producers lounge based at the Indywood Films website, where everyone who has contributed will be able to watch the movie un-fold in real-time, watch exclusive clips, read parts of the script, see un-published photos and even have the chance of being on set LIVE from their own living room when there will be a LIVE video stream from the set.

As of December 2nd, 2010, Antony will be launching phase two of his film fundraising campaign on twitter, starting with a publicity stunt which will involve Antony Lane & Melvyin Phillimore of Indywood Films doing an 80 hour non stop twitter fundraising marathon, hoping to raise £10,000 over the course of the 3+ days.

The tweetathon will be going out LIVE on webcam and will have Antony updating the site every hour with the latest money raised figure.

Antony is hoping to raise an additional £30,000 before filming begins in early 2011.

The fan base on twitter is now approaching 47,000 followers with many people offering to help in any way they can, including some amazing dedication from people like, Kodus Miah who contributed £1000, Richard Lawson who donated close to 100 of his best DVDs for the project to sell on ebay and most recently a man by the name of Damien Ahuir who has donated a very rare and collectible NIRVANA album case for AD Lane to sell during the three day fund raising event.

Good evening fans of the strange & abnormal…

I’ll be your host for the next half hour… or however long it takes you to read my latest ramblings…

A few days ago, I decided to break free of the 140 Character limit set upon me by the evil TWITTER GODS, I am now free to ramble in longer sentences for your pleasure & amusement here in the good ole traditional blog format…

Tonites BLOG-O-RAMA is dedicated to my side project, a feature length documentary I am producing called ‘WHEATUS, YOU MIGHT DIE’ which I shot single handedly on a very special piece of filming equipment, the CANON 5D mark ii… The Canon 5D has recently become some what of a fashionable piece of kit since the producers of the hit TV series ‘HOUSE’ used 3 CANON 5D’s to film the season finale of ‘HOUSE’… And YES, the whole episode… then with George Lucas using it along side his 35mm cameras in his movie ‘RED TAILS’ it has quickly become the INDIE filmmakers camera of choice… but lets face it, the picture quality is absolutely stunning… true HD has never looked so good… & my documentary is the WORLD’S first feature documentary to be shot using it… Hmmm, I think we already have a marketing strategy…

There was a few downsides to shooting on the CANON 5D mark ii, which is why filmmakers are using it creatively for music videos, short films & feature films, there is a reason its not used to make documentaries, especially feature length documentaries… but luckily for me, I had done my research, 90% of the problems that come with shooting with that camera, I overcame because I was prepared for, the other 10% was problems that came up in the field which I wasn’t prepared for… without doing a whole blog dedicated to the CANON 5D mark ii… I am currently in the process of writing a special e-book which covers all my research & my months worth of shooting experience, to hopefully help any future filmmakers avoid any costly problems… e-book COMING soon… send me an email if this ebook interests you @ adlane@indywood.co.uk

Ok, back to business…

HOW DID I END UP ON TOUR WITH WHEATUS? for a MONTH? I hear you all ask…

Well to cut a long story short, me & Brendan AKA WHEATUS, go back quite a few months, he approached me about doing some original music for my feature film ‘INVASION OF THE NOT QUITE DEAD’ and in all honesty, I was like, WHEATUS, Hmmm, I know that name, why do I know that name, so I hit wikipedia, as I do for all my general knowledge these days & couldn’t believe it when I saw that it was the very same band who had created such hits as ‘TEENAGE DIRTBAG’ & ‘LITTLE RESPECT’ back in 2000… it then occurred to me, this band was no stranger to me, in 2002, I was lucky enough to see them perform live at my STAFFORD UNIVERSITY may ball, so when I hear ‘TEENAGE DIRTBAG’ it takes me back to the month that I had to choose a certain LIFE changing PATHWAY, so talk about going full circle… 8 years later I would go from being in the crowd to being on stage with them… AMAZING…

anyway… after many emails back and forth over the months, me & Brendan struck a bond, we was both fighting the INDEPENDENT fight & doing many of the same things… when I say the same things, I mean using the internet to promote our independence & not my in-ability to sing in front of large crowds…

a few months ago I got word that WHEATUS would be doing a 25 day long tour & ending in Austria, which was actually the only place in the world ‘TEENAGE DIRTBAG’ was a #1 hit…

SO HOW DID I GET ON THE TOUR? I hear you all ask impatiently as I have now rambled on again…

OK, so a few cheeky emails went back and forth, basically me asking if they could do a special night dedicated to my ‘INVASION OF THE NOT QUITE DEAD’ movie in LONDON, big promotion, me there with a camera & doing a few quick interviews after wards to help promote the project, when I got an email back saying that it wasn’t a problem to film the evening, I then sent another email saying, what about if I was to drive to a few of the shows around KENT & film them & do some interviews so I could put together a little documentary… the next email to come back was a very excited, ‘YES’… So me being me & in full cheeky mood, I just came straight out & said, what is the chances I could join you guys on the full tour & film a proper documentary covering everything that happens in a warts n all feature documentary… I got an even more excited YES… & the rest as they say is history…

The tour itself was amazing, a truly once in a lifetime opportunity & having the chance to film the entire 25 days was beyond incredible… the band & everyone on the tour, can only be described as a very close nit family & it didn’t take long before I felt very at home with them, like I said, a truly amazing adventure… I will probably get into trouble for saying this, but on the first night a certain film was put on called ’9 SONGS’, my innocence was taken away from me very early on in the tour, haha…

This documentary will basically show the INCREDIBLE struggle the band has had to break free from a record label & remain ALIVE & KICKING for 8+ years, it also covers the risks of touring & in an interview in AUSTRIA the day before the final gig, Brendan said something I will never forget regarding the risks of touring… ‘YOU MIGHT DIE’, ‘MANY BANDS HAVE’… I am just glad he said this at the end of the tour… haha

I have been working on a teaser promo for the feature documentary which will go live in a couple of weeks, in the meantime, I have uploaded a sequence that will never see the light of day due to the guys singing heavily copyrighted songs, but god bless YOUTUBE for not caring so much… so until Paul MCcartney shuts us down, I hope you enjoy the clip… which was completely spontaneous, its the only time on tour a song just broke out with everyone joining in… one of my favourite moments captured on camera but unfortunately won’t ever be included in the final cut, welcome to the frustrating world of filmmaking & obeying the rules…

to any new passers by… my name is AD LANE, Antony to my peers, Tony to my friends, I also answer to ZOMBIE FACE on a regular basis, thats what happens when you have a ZOMBIE profile pic on your twitter account, anyway… I have been chasing a lifelong dream for many many years now & that dream is to make a feature length horror film, but not just something that can be made with a few pounds & a few friends, my dream is to make something worthy of a cinema release & something of production value that I could be proud to show off to my family & the rest of the world… so story telling, character development & good cinematography is something I stand by & is a MUST, I want my film to be as cinematic as possible on whatever budget I can raise… anyway, in a nutshell, I am a filmmaker that dreams of being a bigger filmmaker, I don’t want fame, I just want the ability to self fund future films & be in control of my own destiny… there is a reason JOHN CARPENTER has commented on how much he hates the studio WAY & is going back to his Independent roots… my FAN FUNDING website ‘THE INDYWOOD PROJECT’ is making my dream become a reality…

I was going to do a HUGE blog about who I am & what I am doing & what I am going to do in the not so distant future, but then I figured, DON’T DO IT… AD, DON’T DO IT… if people out there are anything like me, a HUGE blog would put people off, they would be like, so long sucker, I’M OUTTA HERE…

So… I will cover all of those things & more over the next few weeks, in a series of blogs… lets keep some mystery alive here… I may even talk about the several ways I have nearly died over the years, or how I single handedly filmed a feature documentary using the almost impossible CANON 5D Mark ii…

I will talk more about both those projects later in the week, I will also be talking about the re-launch of ‘THE INDYWOOD MOVIE PROJECT’ which has been on a hiatus for the past 2 months, I can’t wait to get back into full time fund raising for ‘INVASION OF THE NOT QUITE DEAD’… New site coming soon… + information on our INTRO shoot which is being planned as we speak & once our @IOTNQDmovie hits 1000 FOLLOWERS we will reveal who our CULT 80′s horror icon is we have attached to the INTRO of ‘INVASION’… exciting times…

In the last few hours on my twitter there was a special appreciation night for Tommy Wiseau’s ‘THE ROOM’… I was introduced to this movie during my time on the Wheatus tour in June 2010 & it was quite possibly the funniest 90 minutes of my life, I urge you to try and find this film & watch it with some friends, a true miss-understood cult classic… don’t get me wrong, its the worst film you will ever see in your life… but with the right people, you will have the funniest 90 minutes of your life.
