DAY 81 on the project…

Howdy fellow zombie lovers…

Ok, your probably thinking what the hell is going on here, we get a blog on day 18, but then have to wait 2 months before another one pops up…

To be honest with you, I didn’t want to begin blogging till I had a fund raising site I was happy with, so as many of you are aware, I have been changing the format of the INDYWOOD PROJECT site now every few weeks… Everything I am doing has been a learning curve, no one has done this before, sure many have sold producer credits & even to some degree have sold executive producer packages, but how many people have had the balls to ask for people to pay full price on a pre-order of a DVD so that the filmmaker can go out and make it without interference from investors or a studio, from my research, not many… so with that in mind this project has been an incredible learning curve and for the past 3 months since launching several things have worked and several things haven’t…

I am now concentrating on all the ideas that work, so I have just completed the latest Indywood Project fund raising site, and we will see how it goes, I will include a bit about the changes shortly… In the mean time, I would like to share with you some statistics from our first 3 months of being active as a fundraising project…

In regards to a few changes to the site, I am now offering all our pre-order producers the chance to do a 30 second support video, I will include these on the final DVD in the special features, so this is a great way of offering our producers something a bit more personal, all we require is that they say their name, & what producer they are, as in I AM A PRE-ORDER PRODUCER FOR THE INDYWOOD PROJECT, then the rest is up to them, so the idea is if you buy a pre-order, send in your photo to us at adlane@indywood.co.uk and a link to your 30 second video on youtube we will do you a special producer webpage linking you up on the new homepage grid, on this page you will have the chance to also promote your website… wow that was a bit of a mouthful.

The latest news is we are looking into doing a short 1 min teaser trailer as a way of saying thank you to everyone who has so far become a producer to the project, we will be giving everyone who lives local to the UK a chance at appearing in the trailer… We will also be looking for crew for this 1-2 day shoot…

Other news is that we are looking into doing a range of merchandise for THE INDYWOOD PROJECT & INVASION OF THE NOT QUITE DEAD, we have a few companies in mind to work exclusively on our new range, this means that we will also be able to include things like T-SHIRTS, CAPS and POSTERS in with our bigger producer packages, we will also be able to sell MOVIE MERCHANDISE as another way to raise money to make the movie, right now we are making HISTORY by having the fans pre-order our movie for us to make it, imagine if we sell an incredible amount of merchandise as well before a single shot is ever filmed…

I am hoping that this project inspires other filmmakers to take the initiative and to try and use the internet and especially Twitter to reach out to the fans to get them more involved with the filmmaking process, you will be surprised as to how many people out their want to see the little guy succeed ahead of mass corporations… It blows me away as to the response I have been getting from the guys and gals of Twitter, they are just as excited about seeing INVASION made as me, it’s an incredible feeling to know that even at this early stage, 255 people have paid to see my movie… NO PRESSURE… haha

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I got word yesterday that the documentary me and Ken Russell did for BBC 2, should be aired later this year, this had Ken directing 3 scenes from INVASION in a very strange casting session… I bet you I have been cut out of every shot… I know the business after all… haha

DAY 18 on the project…

Sorry about the huge delay in starting my blog, I have spent 3 months getting the project site ready, and then after launching it, I spent the first 2 weeks changing things around.

It’s been more of a test run, but I have to say test run or not, we have managed to create a hell of a stir in the ZOMBIE/FILMMAKING community… In less than 2 weeks on TWITTER, we have managed to get over 3500 followers…

We have also raised £1500 in business sponsorship, a huge thank you goes out to BROMLEY MYTIME and STARSINMYEYES.tv – these companies really believe in what were trying to do which is just AMAZING…

We have sold 25 DVD Pre-Orders, which is also incredible, I don’t know of any other film project that has managed to create such a buzz about a movie that people would be willing to spend £20 on a pre-order a year and a half before they would receive their film, that shows REAL faith and support…

Right now I feel as tho we are doing something FRESH and UNIQUE, selling DVD Pre-Orders with a free ZOMBIE PHOTO MAKEOVER, this seems to be exciting a lot of fans… I also noticed that our IMDB movie rating shot up 36% since launching the project, taking us from 50,000 to 36,000 most popular movie online.

I checked out the log book on the server site, which shows that there are 46 different countries following the INDYWOOD MOVIE PROJECT fundraising site, we have sold DVD’S to the UK, USA, CANADA, NORWAY, RIO and FRANCE so far… Good job I will be making the DVDs REGION O, so they will play on all machines…

So tonight’s blog is more of a re-cap on how the project has gone so far in the first 2 weeks… The biggest news is we managed to get FANGORIA MAGAZINE to interview us about the project, which I have to say came out really well. Ok, so the big question on people’s minds is, WILL WE RAISE £100,000 – I think if the first 2 weeks are anything to go by, and don’t forget we have raised over £2000 so far, I think we stand a good chance, once I start approaching businesses for sponsorship and product placement…
